tl; dr
I wasted some time, but got new inspiration. There are a few new songs I’m already showing on soundcloud but not ready to release yet.

Space Opera

As mentioned already, I have a new project in the pipeline. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be quite some time until I can afford producing and marketing this project. Still, I invested some energy into designing a few instruments and produced a few songs with them:

First of all (and my personal favorite out of these 3), Boarding Party

There is (was… it’s currently displaced) a storyboard for a video that should go along with the release as a single. When I feel ready to get back to drawing & animation, this will be a top priority for me.

Then we have Savior

And finally there’s Stasis. This one’s pretty chill. I used it several times to get my son to sleep.

A fresh tune

Just few hours ago, I prepared a preview mix for my newest song. It’s still unnamed and uses some new instruments. I find the style doesn’t fit well with the Space Opera project. But there are some passages which I really like. In the worst case, Unnamed song no.24 will be dissected and turned into something new.

What’s on the horizon?

Since months I’ve had a license for Garritan’s Personal Orchestra, but I haven’t really had the time to invest much time into it. But lately I’ve been playing some piano and guitar (omg it’s not a synth!!!) and other physical instruments. I played with musical scores again, which is something I haven’t done in almost a year. Generally, I feel some kind of pull towards a more classical approach to music.

I have decided to stick my nose into orchestral composition. This is something that I’ve been interested in for over a decade now.

But of course it’s not going to be easy. The first step is to admit that I have no idea about orchestral composition. I will need to plan big, fail, plan smaller, fail again, and so on until I’ve reached a point where I don’t fail anymore and I can start growing. It’s a learning process.

This venture does not mean I’ll turn away from Electric music. Instead, I aim to learn something that I can take over to my projects. I am certain there’s much to gain by combining both worlds.
